Gilded Wooden Lamp, Baroque Style, Putto Angel, Love, Gilded Wood, Silver-plated, Art Deco, 51 Cm
A charming decorative lamp in the Baroque style, crafted from carved wood with gold and silver finishes, depicting an angel or putto holding up a leafy branch that forms a two-candle candlestick.
The winged figure is depicted in a lively, dynamic pose, with a slightly twisted body, one leg extended backward, and arms clinging to a long plant stem. Its tilted face, curly hair, and small outstretched wings echo the decorative style of 17th- and 18th-century Italian Baroque angels.
The branch extends above the figure into several twigs adorned with carved leaves. It supports two light arms ending in cut-out candle holders and faux candle sleeves made of synthetic material, imitating dripping wax.
The angel rests on a silvery cloud, which in turn sits on a large, dynamic rocaille-style base. The base is carved with volutes, acanthus leaves, and scalloped curves. The contrast between the antique gilding and the silver-plated parts highlights the sculpture’s relief and lends it a theatrical quality.
