​Artist / Signature: Signed “Armandson” (or “G. Armandson”) at the bottom of the piece.

​Inscriptions on the back: Handwritten references to “BARA Tribe” and “Fort Dauphin” (Tolagnaro, Madagascar).

​Technique: Wood carved in bas-relief, pyrographed, and hand-painted.

​Subject: Profile portraits of a Bara warrior (with spear and headdress) and a Bara woman with braids adorned with beads.
