After entering high school, it became clear that Constantin Meunier preferred the arts to general studies. From an early age, he took drawing lessons from his brother Jean-Baptiste Meunier, who was ten years his senior. In September 1845, following in the footsteps of his brother Jean-Baptiste, who had taken engraving classes there, he began his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, where, starting in 1848, he studied under the neoclassical sculptor Louis Jehotte[2].
