Bronze plaque illustrating the mine circa 1930. Measures with frame 40cm x 48cm. Frame is not original. The artist studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels under Jean-Joseph Jaquet and with Hector Lemaire at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris. In 1900-1901, he attended Charles Van Der Stappen's classes at the Brussels Academy. He won the Grand Prize of the Brussels Academy in 1901 and of Saint-Louis in 1914. He participated in the Ghent Salon of 1902, the Brussels Salons of 1903 and 1914, and the triennial exhibition of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of National Industry in Antwerp in 1908 and 1911. At the Saint-Louis International Exhibition of 1904, he won a gold medal, and in Milan, he received a diploma with distinction. In 1928, he commissioned the architect Joseph Van Neck to build his house and studio at 43 Avenue Roger Vandendriessche in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre.
