​A superb oil painting on canvas depicting the portrait of an elegant woman from high society during the Belle Époque, attributed to and signed by the Dutch master Albert ROELOFS (1877–1920).

​Subject: A lady seated in a three-quarter view in a carved armchair, wearing an ivory lace dress with a high collar and adorned with a superb bouquet of dark roses at her bodice.
​Style & Execution: A remarkable mastery of light and composition. The face is rendered with great psychological subtlety, while the clothing and background are executed with a freer, more impressionistic touch.

​Albert Roelofs (1877–1920) was a renowned Dutch painter, son of the famous landscape painter Willem Roelofs. Trained at the Hague Academy, he is particularly renowned for his intimate interior scenes and his portraits of the bourgeoisie of the Hague School.
