Mohamed Bouzid was an Algerian painter born in 1929 in Lakhdaria (formerly Palestro) who settled in Paris in 1994. Following independence, he designed the seal and coat of arms of the Algerian Republic in 1963. He participated in numerous exhibitions, notably the 1964 *Peintres algériens* (Algerian Painters) exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. His final major exhibition was a retrospective at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Algiers.
