Sculpture - Setter With A Rabbit , Jules Moigniez (1835–1894) - Bronze

Artist: Jules Moigniez (1835-1894)
A large bronze sculpture with a brown patina , depicting a "Setter" breed hunting dog on the prowl for its prey , a rabbit hidden beneath foliage , by the animal sculptor Jules Moigniez (1835–1894) .
The dog’s energy and hunting instinct are highlighted here .
The dog is depicted in a pointing stance , its senses are alert as it intently watches the clump of vegetation , where it detects its prey without even seeing it, thanks to its sense of smell .
Jules Moigniez pays particular attention to anatomical details , his works are considered remarkably detailed , with very thorough chiseling , complemented by an elegance in the poses .
Bronze signed "J. Moigniez" , on the richly chiseled , tree-lined naturalistic base .
An antique edition sculpture dating from the second half of the 19th century .
In very good condition with a beautiful patina .

Dimensions: 18 cm x 32 cm x 13.8 cm
