Renaissance-era Cabinet.

A two-part cabinet from the second half of the 16th century. The upper section opens with two doors carved with foliage motifs and human heads surrounded by decorated posts, winged angels, fruit, and palmettes in high relief. The entire section is topped by a beautiful cornice carved with battlements and acanthus leaves. The lower section, also decorated with foliage, features two distinct human heads in the center, surrounded by palmette-decorated side panels, a motif that also appears on the sides. Drawers with chimera-head handles. Some restoration work, primarily on the lower section and the drawer fronts. The carvings on the front are entirely original and inlaid with marquetry strips and ebony plaques. In very fine condition. France, circa 1560–1570.
