Important Antique Chinese Embroidery, 130x320 Cm, Circa 1900–1930

An impressive Chinese embroidered panel, crafted on silk, featuring a naturalistic scene of great finesse: exotic birds, flowering branches, bamboo, foliage, and stylized plant motifs.The embroidery, executed with remarkable precision, attests to the craftsmanship typical of workshops active between the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republican era (circa 1900–1930).It was likely produced in the provinces of Jiangsu or Zhejiang, regions renowned for their high-quality embroidery workshops (Suzhou, Hangzhou).

The piece is mounted on a large wooden frame, approximately 130 cm wide × 320 cm high. An additional section of fabric—approximately 20–30 cm—extends to the back, indicating that the embroidered panel was originally even longer. The perimeter is protected by trim applied along the entire edge.

The composition belongs to the hua niao 花鸟 (“flowers and birds”) iconographic tradition, associated with:

longevity and harmony (bamboo, a symbol of integrity and resilience), prosperity and domestic happiness (flowers in full bloom), spiritual elevation and refinement (birds in flight or perched).
