Vienna Bronze In The Shape Of A Fox, Late 19th–early 20th Century
A charming little bronze from Vienna in the shape of a red fox, with a beautiful patina that highlights its fur.
Viennese bronzes began to flourish in the Austrian capital as early as 1850. Featuring a wide variety of subjects, ranging from animal figures to small Orientalist scenes, they are characterized by great attention to detail and expression. Each piece is unique, with the engravings and finishes done by hand, and the colors applied using a cold-painting technique. Generally small in size—sometimes measuring just a few millimeters—some Viennese bronzes can also reach up to one meter in height.
In good overall condition.
Dates from the late 19th to early 20th century.
