Bowl, Nevers Earthenware, 17th Century
Chinese decoration of blue monochrome on a white background in the center of the plate and on the rim we find a frieze of plants. Cracks due to age and visible hair.

In the 17th century, trade with China developed, in the last third of the century Chinese shapes and motifs renewed Nevers earthenware.
The earthenware makers imitated, at first more or less faithfully, the blue and white Ming porcelains brought back by traders from the Netherlands, before appropriating Chinese-inspired decorations.
The Chinese decoration, essentially in blue on a white background, was produced from 1660 until around 1720.
