Alfred Pierre Richard (1844–1884) – Large Bronze Cup With Neo-greek Decoration
A large bronze bowl with a golden-brown patina, resting on an elegant quadrangular base with four claw feet richly decorated with volutes and acanthus leaves. The circular basin is adorned in the center with a high-relief medallion depicting a scene of ancient inspiration with pastoral and allegorical themes, featuring a seated male figure holding a staff, surrounded by animals. The medallion is signed “Richard.” The rim is adorned with a decorative frieze in the Neo-Greek style. The two openwork handles, finely chiseled, bear engraved commemorative cartouches.
