Vermeil Sewing Kit By Tahan, Paris – 19th Century
An elegant 19th-century French sewing kit, presented in its original case bearing the monogram CT.
The set is signed Tahan, Paris, a famous Parisian case maker renowned for the quality of its luxury items during the Second Empire. It includes four richly chased vermeil accessories:
* a pair of scissors,
* a thimble,
* an awl,
* a needle case.
Each piece is finely engraved with botanical and decorative motifs. The handles of the scissors and the other items feature elegant goldsmith’s work. The interior of the case is molded to the shape of the accessories and retains its original lock.
In good overall condition with slight signs of wear and a patina consistent with its age. The scissor blades show superficial oxidation.
