France, late 19th century. Signed “BRONZES GARANTI AU TITRE PARIS” and “Pinedo.”

Émile Pinedo (1840–1916)—a French artist who made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1870. Born into a family of sculptors, his father was also an artist; they ran a studio in the Marais district of Paris. He gained recognition after the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago, where he exhibited patinated bronze works. Émile created numerous works during his prolific career, primarily in the styles of academic art, realism, and Orientalism. His preferred medium was bronze.
