CHINESE TRAVEL DESK MADE OF AMBOINA BURL, QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY.
This small travel writing desk was made around the mid-19th century in Canton, China, for export to England.
The exterior edges are trimmed with brass, and there is a drawer on one side.
Inside, there are two writing surfaces; lifting one reveals three small drawers made of Huanghuali wood (marked with Chinese characters).
The outer lid has a small crack, and some of the interior compartments are missing.
