Pair Of “return From Egypt” Candelabra With Bronze Caryatids, Empire Period (1805–1810)

An elegant pair of three-arm Empire-period candelabra featuring a superb double patina: bronze with a nuanced brown patina and gilded with mercury.
The shaft of each candelabrum consists of a standing caryatid with her arms crossed over her chest. She supports a capital on her head, atop which rests a Medici vase from which emerge three sinuous light arms adorned with leaves and swan heads supporting the lampshades.
In the center is a wrought-iron and gilded bronze rod featuring buttons, leaves, and flowers (carnations).
The entire piece rests on a cylindrical pedestal encircled by fluted scrollwork, which in turn sits on a square base.
Assembled using a threaded rod, secured by a transverse iron bar and its square nut. No drilling required.
Note: There is slight wear from use on the original gilding, mainly on the cylindrical section, but the piece remains in “very good household condition.”
