This is how the reliquaries were delivered by convents, simply protected by a cardboard box before being set in silver frames or displayed in showcases by patrons.
Flat, arched boxes covered with recycled silk, each containing an inner reliquary with a pink-and-white fabric lining, embellished with rolled gilded and colored papers, each displaying a relic with handwritten name.
Religious art, France, circa 1780 or early 19th century, during the Bourbon Restauration.
Exterior slightly soiled and worn, interior in very fresh condition, with a lovely bubbled glass,
Casings: 8 cmx 6.5 cm and 6 cm x 4.5 cm.
