Feather Man, Beautiful Pastel Portrait, From A Beautiful Attic In Cevennes

Pretty boy, French Directoire period, gray coat with white bow tie and waistcoat, mid-length hair, feather in hand. This rectangular pastel painted on paper, portrait inscribed in an oval, still has its period frame, gilded Louis XVI rod, (with a lot of chips). It still has its back of thick paper, quite stained, but which is signed by the artist, probably an itinerant portraitist, Italian-sounding name, and dated 1800.
Character would be the young M. de Montèze, the origin: attic of the castle of St Cristol, Gard.
Original glass has disappeared. The pastel has not suffered too much from its absence, very little frictions and traces of humidity, see our talking photos.
Fairly good condition, but now requires framing care. We know how to ship without the pastel having to suffer from the journey.
