The exhibition catalog stated: Suzanne Busmey, born in Paris, a student of Henri Royer, Marcel Baschet, and Paul Thomas, and residing in Créteil, at La Feuillée on Rue Henry.
She exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1909 and 1912, each time presenting a pastel portrait, including “Portrait of Mlle S. D.” (No. 2131) at the 1912 exhibition; this could be the large portrait shown here in the advertisement—it is dated 1910, but she may have exhibited it two years later.
Large pastel on paper (in 2 sheets, visible separation in the middle, see photo) 130 x 97 cm.
Original gilded stucco (copper) frame, 135 x 102.5 cm, custom-made and original to the pastel, with glass.
The pastel is in excellent condition.
The piece is quite heavy, and there is no hanging system installed.
