FLINTLOCK PISTOL, BY JUAN FERNANDES – MADRID 1734 – “À LA MODA” PLATE
Spain, early 18th century.
Steel, wood, and iron
Total length: 48 cm - Barrel length: 31.3 cm – Muzzle diameter: 15 mm

Barrel with three sections: square, then round, with rings at the muzzle. Stamped with the initials RNISVTL crowned on a gold background, marked with three gold fleurs-de-lis, and signed JUAN F. MD. Gilded finish.
Breech plate engraved with an eagle.
Flat-bodied lock, known as “à la moda,” engraved with bundles of weapons; signed GABRIEL ALGORA MD and dated 1734; stamped with “GLEALGORA” surmounted by a crown. Hammer, bassinet, and bassinet cover engraved as a set.
Walnut stock, engraved with a seashell.
Counterplate made of cut and openwork iron, engraved with foliage and a soldier in armor.
All iron fittings, engraved as a set. Long-tailed cap engraved with bundles of weapons.
Walnut stock, with carvings.

Good condition. Cracks at the muzzle of the barrel
