1873 Order - Model - "port Police" - St-etienne - 19th Century

St. Etienne Arms and Bicycle Factory, Model 1873 service revolver intended for the port police, with “PP” hallmark stamped on the left side of the barrel.
All parts bear the same serial number, 17870; see photos
The barrel is partially octagonal, then round, with a sighting mechanism and a well-defined rifling pattern inside, in 11 mm caliber.
Dated on the side of the barrel: “S 1887 and PP” for PORT POLICE.
Fire-proofing, controller, and inspector hallmarks—see photos: “R in a circle” and “C in a circle.”
Marked “MOD 1873” on the upper band of the barrel
Marked “M” above the butt plate, on the right side
Sliding ejector rod for spent cartridges
Loading door on the right, pivots on its lower end and tilts
Mechanism in perfect working order in single-action and double-action modes
Hammer positioned in the half-cocked position and fully functional (hammer is away from the cartridges in the cylinder, serving as a safety feature)
Trigger under the trigger guard
Checkered walnut grip plates secured with through-screws
Metal cap with sling swivel ring
