Shasaven Kilim - Persia. Circa 1930. 165 X 90 Cm
Authentic and even surprising, this piece is extremely rare in its composition. It is the work of the Shahsaven nomadic people of Persia, woven using the traditional wool-on-wool technique.
The piece was woven on a rudimentary horizontal loom. Composed of two panels joined and sewn together, this piece features a unique composition.
Most of the surface consists of undyed natural wool interspersed with bands of ultra-vibrant and deep plant-based dyes. A striking contrast. The indigo blues are marvelous. The weave is precise and even, and the piece is supple. The wool is hand-spun.
A highly decorative piece, in addition to its authentic appearance. Very rare.
