Iranian Kurk wool rug, cotton warp and weft, circa 1970. Very good condition.

Located southeast of Tehran, the small town of Veramine produced rugs that most often featured the timeless “mina khani” (daisy) pattern, an interpretation of the “Herati” or “mahi” pattern. This pattern, of Kurdish origin, is also found on Bidjar rugs. Becoming increasingly rare.

An elegant Veramine on an orange background, in the size kénareh made of kurk wool (fine wool sheared in the spring from the necks of lambs). This great classic features the “mina khani” pattern (daisy motif). Three small “herati” borders, typical of Véramine rugs, frame the rug’s field.
