(historical damage)

A wooden funerary mask featuring delicate modelling, enhanced with black pigments for the iris, eye make-up and eyebrows, and blue for the band along the rim, likely representing a shroud or headdress. The complexion is coloured with white ochre pigments.
Its small mouth has pursed lips, and its philtrum is slightly prominent,

In the book *Mummy Masks of the Egyptian Middle Kingdom: The Mirgissa Discoveries* by Patricia Rigault-Déon, published in 2012, Henri Loyrette, then Director-General of the Louvre Museum, wrote:
‘Mummification is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic practices of ancient Egypt. It is, above all, a reflection of the ancient Egyptians’ belief in the continuity of life beyond death.
Without this preservation of the body, the various elements that made up the person in life could not be reunited in the afterlife.
The Egyptians soon adopted the practice of covering the faces of their mummies with a mask, a custom that continued right up to the Roman period.”
