Neoclassical Goblet On A Pedestal, In Gilded And Silver-plated Bronze—signed L. Oudry And Faraoni
Presentation cup (or tazza) on a 19th-century pedestal in the Neoclassical/Empire style.
This collector’s item, crafted with great finesse, features a dual patina combining gilded bronze and silver-plated metal.
The dish: The center is adorned with a relief medallion depicting the profile of an ancient warrior wearing a helmet with a crest topped by a winged chimera. It is signed along the edge: “L. OUDRY, PUBLISHER, and Faraoni, sculptor, 1869.”
The shaft (column): Polygonal in shape, it is decorated on each side with lion heads in high relief holding a gilded ring in their mouths.
The base: A sturdy square base adorned with stylized acanthus foliage and a frieze of gadroons, resting on four small gilded spindle-shaped feet, decorated on the sides with baroque shells in silver-plated metal.
