A significant two-section Renaissance sideboard in solid oak, dating from the late 16th–early 17th century, featuring remarkable carving and excellent condition.

The front is richly adorned with vine tendrils, grape clusters, foliage, mascarons, and a superb carved angel’s head at the center of the drawers. The central post is decorated with a large mascaron surrounded by finely executed plant motifs. The side panels are also carved, a sign of a piece of great prestige.

The piece opens with four doors and two lower drawers, each fitted with wrought-iron handles. It rests on a sturdy, molded base and is crowned by an imposing carved cornice. The piece as a whole attests to the craftsmanship of French Renaissance workshops.

With its harmonious proportions and rich ornamentation, this sideboard is a first-rate collector’s item, ideal for a home with character, a historic residence, or a significant collection of antique furniture.
