Curved Chest Of Drawers With Marquetry – Stamped “r. Bacchin,” 20th Century
Stamped on the top and on the side of the top drawer: R. Bacchin, cabinetmaker at the Faubourg Saint-Antoine workshops.
This neighborhood was historically the beating heart of fine cabinetmaking in France.
In the 20th century, these master craftsmen created reproductions of antique furniture (primarily Louis XV, Transition, and Louis XVI) while scrupulously adhering to the techniques of the Ancien Régime. Since the maker’s mark was no longer mandatory in the 20th century, its presence is a true mark of the artisan’s pride, guaranteeing high-end “handmade” craftsmanship.
This curved chest of drawers features very fine marquetry that follows beautiful curved lines, enhanced by rich bronze ornamentation. Mounted on an oak frame with dovetail-jointed drawers,it is topped with its original marble top.
