19th-century Restoration-era Mother-of-pearl Sewing Kit, Palais Royal, Piano-shaped Case
A mother-of-pearl sewing kit presented in a piano-shaped box.
The piano keys are mounted on a removable base. Some of them depress as if they could be played; they were likely designed to activate the music box. Mechanism needs to be checked.
Under the other removable panel is the sewing kit, consisting of mother-of-pearl and steel tools:
- A pair of embroidery scissors with mother-of-pearl handles, in very good condition.
- A needle case.
- An embroidery awl shaped like an ancient vase.
- A mother-of-pearl thimble.
- A pair of tweezers.
- A very small pair of steel scissors.
- A bottle of smelling salts.
The entire set is in very good condition.
