Pair Of Porcelain Fruit Bowls / Stemmed Bowls With A "barbeaux" Design, Attributed To Dihl & Guerhard

Artist: Manufacture Dihl Et Guerhard, Attribué à
Pair of Empire-period fruit bowls on high stems or bread bowls made of Paris porcelain highlighted with fine gold. They feature the famous “Barbeaux” design, created under Louis XVI and which remained in fashion until the Restoration. Early 19th century, circa 1800–1810. Unsigned, they are attributed to the Dihl & Guerhard Manufactory. (Our pieces are part of a very large Dihl & Guerhard porcelain service consisting of numerous shaped pieces and plates, some of which are signed and of identical workmanship, available for purchase on our website).

The Dihl and Guerhard Manufactory was founded in 1781 and established on Rue de Bondy in Paris. In 1782, the manufactory obtained the patronage of the young Duke of Angoulême Louis-Antoine d’Artois (1775–1844), (son of the future Charles X) and changed its name to become the Manufacture of the Duke of Angoulême. During the Revolution, the Directory, and the Empire, it reverted to the name Manufacture Dihl et Guerhard.

The set is in excellent condition, nearly like new. The gilding is perfectly preserved, with no damage. (a very small chip on the base of one of the two bowls)

Diameter: 22 cm
