The style reflects Vignoli’s training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna under Ercole Drei, blending realism with the solid formal structure typical of 20th-century Italian art. From the mid-1930s through the post-war period, alongside his famous athletic sculptures (such as those created for the 1936 Olympics or the Foro Italico), Farpi Vignoli explored themes of intimacy, family, and commemorative figures.
