Large Bronze Sculpture Of American Indian Warrior By Bruno Zach (austrian, 1891–1945)
Artist: Bruno Zach
Large, original bronze sculpture by the world-renowned Austrian sculptor Bruno Zach (1891–1935). The figure was created during the sculptor’s lifetime.
Both the Romanian sculptor DH Chiparus and the Austrian Bruno Zach are widely regarded as two of the great masters of Art Deco decorative art in bronze and ivory.
Bruno Zach was born in Austria but worked in Berlin during the interwar period.
Bruno Zach was a prolific creator of tall, athletic, and independent women in bronze and ivory. He depicted both wholesome outdoor activities and the dreamlike mistresses of the demi-monde in Berlin, Paris, and Vienna between the wars. His bronze works are sometimes patinated, but more often cold-painted. His use of ivory is understated and always finely sculpted. His work was produced by several companies, including Argentor-Werke of Vienna, the Broma Company, S. Altmann & Co., and Bergmann. Zach’s works remain highly prized by collectors worldwide and command high estimates at international auctions.
