A beautiful portrait by the French painter and sculptor Pierre Bonnaud (b. 1865, Lyon – d. 1930). He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon with Jean-Baptiste Poncet beginning in 1883; later, he attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Jean-Paul Laurens, Gustave Moreau, Léon Bonnat, and Léon Gérôme.—He began his career by creating drawings for fashion magazines. He painted portraits, historical paintings, and genre scenes depicting life in Paris (Bohemians, Chansonettes). As a sculptor, he created, among other works, the bronze figure of Joan of Arc as well as *Dancer from Antiquity*.
