A magnificent 19th-century miniature by the famous Austrian portraitist and miniaturist Albert Theer (1815–1902). The brother of Austrian miniaturists Robert and Adolf Theer, Albert Theer studied engraving at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and began his career as a miniaturist and lithographer in 1835. The influence of Moritz Michael Daffinger, the most renowned of the Austrian miniaturists, is immediately apparent in his work. Beginning in 1835, Theer frequently exhibited his works.
