Two Provençal Lampetas, Miniature Blown-glass Oil Lamps, 18th–19th Centuries
A lovely pair of Provençal oil lamps, made of blown glass (Velhola), each with a small checkered thumb rest; both fit in one hand, and the smaller one has a glass attachment at base to secure it to a wooden “tree” that had many such attachments, like a Christmas tree.
Both have—and this is very rare—their own small iron wick holders.
They were obviously used to burn “oli” oil. Pretty examples of folk glassware, testaments to a different way of life…
Dimensions: 5 x 5 cm and 7 x 7 cm.
Good condition;
