We thank Lorenzo Guareschi for providing the following information: "The dependence of this *Addolorata* on the figure at the foot of the cross in the *Deposition*—painted around 1731 by Claudio Francesco Beaumont for the high altar of the Church of Santa Croce in Turin—is evident. It is an autograph work by the master—perhaps created with the assistance of a pupil emulating his style, such as Giovanni Domenico Molinari or Felice Manassero—that transforms the original composition into a lyrical interpretation (a variation or adaptation) intended for private devotion."
