Large Accolay Vase, France, 1960s
Artist: Accolay
A large vase with double handles created by the Accolay collective, a studio founded by four former students of Alexandre Kostanda and recognized as one of the leading centers of postwar French ceramics. Its slender silhouette is accentuated by two side-mounted ear-shaped handles and a pattern of horizontal striations created on the potter’s wheel. The entire piece is covered in a glaze of subtle shades of blue. Standing 42 cm tall, this large, monumental vase has a strong sculptural presence and can be used as a vase or a decorative object.
