Scoring Cabinet For Billiards, Snooker, And Life Pool
A combined scoreboard for billiards, snooker, and “Life Pool,” made by Thurston and featuring an oak frame.
Dated to around 1860, this entirely original scoreboard is distinguished by its openwork upper section in the Gothic style.
A central slate section, adorned with an engraved fleur-de-lis, is flanked by sliding panels for “Life Pool”; which, when opened, reveal mother-of-pearl inlays as well as star motifs crafted from boxwood and ebony.
The original manufacturer’s plate, bearing the inscription “Thurston & Co London and Manchester,” is in perfect condition.
Two numbered rotating dials, equipped with their original sliders, sit above symmetrical compartments for storing the marbles, as well as a central drawer used to collect the wagers.
