Antique Billiards Or Snooker Table With Ornate Decoration

This superb regulation-size billiard table (12 x 6 feet), crafted from mahogany with ebony marquetry, is a true masterpiece dating from around 1875.

The side rails feature magnificent decorative marquetry medallions as well as complex, flowing symmetrical motifs depicting animal elements, crafted from boxwood and Amboina burl.

This elegant motif is repeated, on a smaller scale, on the sides of the panels, which are also adorned with ebony medallions. The sturdy legs, adorned with fluted molding, are complemented by volute-shaped brackets; each features a vine-leaf marquetry motif set within a diamond-shaped panel of walnut and Amboina burl.

Crafted by the renowned London firm Cox & Yeman, this table has undergone a meticulous, hand-crafted restoration—including English-made cotton mesh pockets, as well as rubber band edges, leather, and a high-quality felt—to preserve both its beauty and its playing qualities.
