Exceptional 17th-century Louis XIII cabinet in solid walnut, of very fine craftsmanship and monumental proportions.
It opens with two large, richly molded doors, adorned with superb diamond-point panels in high relief, framed by elegant molding. The sides are also paneled, reflecting the care taken in its construction. The piece is crowned by an imposing overhanging cornice with stepped sections, characteristic of the finest 17th-century French furniture.
The cabinet rests on its original flattened ball feet and features a large drawer running the full width of the cabinet, complete with its original drop handles and lock plate. It retains its long forged pins, its period lock, and its functional key.
The interior, made entirely of walnut, is fitted with shelves offering ample storage space. The piece features a magnificent antique patina, traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, and wood of exceptional quality.
