Louis XVI-style Gilded Bronze Mantelpiece Finial, Samuel Marti
An elegant and refined Louis XVI-style mantelpiece, consisting of a pillar clock and a pair of two-light candelabra, made in the late 19th century, around 1900.
The clock features a neoclassical design in finely chiseled and gilded bronze, resting on a circular white marble base adorned with a rich bronze frieze. It is crowned by a charming patinated bronze Cupid depicted drawing his bow, lending the ensemble a composition of great elegance.
The circular white enamel dial features Arabic numerals and openwork gilded bronze hands. The Paris-made movement is signed by Samuel Marti and bears the prestigious “Médaille d’Or – Paris 1900” hallmark, a guarantee of quality craftsmanship. The matching candelabra feature the same design of patinated bronze putti, each supporting two gilded bronze arms, creating a harmonious and decorative ensemble.
The gilding is well-preserved, and the bronze elements display fine chiseling and a lovely original patina. This set will look perfect on a mantelpiece or console table in a classic interior.
