An important Louis XVI style mantel clock in gilt bronze, patinated and with a griotte red marble top. The clock features a draped cherub pointing to time and wrapping a ribbon around a pedestal with a cornucopia. The enamel dial is signed A. Beurdeley Fils à Paris, with openwork hands. The rectangular base with splayed feet and an inverted cavetto molding is decorated with foliate posts and rams' heads. The candelabra, after Clodion, feature cherubs supporting five candle arms with hunting trophies (boar and stag heads) at their feet. Three ribboned candle arms are in imitation of hunting horns, and two are decorated with oak leaves and acorns. The shafts are lance-shaped, and the round bases have friezes of posts. Clock: height 56.5 cm, width 51 cm, depth 25.5 cm. Candelabra: height 79 cm. The mechanism has been serviced and is sold with a mantelpiece. Job opening.
