Large, Modern Italian Murano Glass Bowl In Blue-gray Signed Paolo Crepax 1990s

Large, modern bowl made of Italian Murano glass, blue-gray in color, hand-signed by Paolo Crepax.

The center of the bowl consists of a black base (outer diameter: 11 cm).
The bowl is 11.0 cm tall, and its rim (11 cm) flares outward, forming delicate ribs (which can be felt on the outer surface).
The outer rim is very slightly wavy and is 1 cm thick.
The bowl is a delicate blue-gray, accented by a slightly darker blue-gray band
that runs up the center of the bowl at a constant distance from the base, widening slightly
as it reaches the top.
This technique, which involves applying colored glass threads to the surface of hot glass and then
fusing them into it, is called “Fili a.”

The bowl has a generous shape and captivates with its delicate, almost transparent color and its flowing bands.

Biography of Paolo Crepax

In Murano, near Venice, in 1960, Paolo, then only 10 years old, began working with master glassmaker Livio Seguso. From 1966 to 1973, he worked in the studio of master glassmaker Fulvio Scarpa.
In 1973, Paolo Crepax embarked on an independent career by opening a kiln dedicated to the production of Murano glass objects—
he began producing glass clowns, Venetian girls by Goldoni, and other souvenirs.

In 1978, the crisis in global foreign markets made it impossible to sustain Italian souvenir exports.

In 1979, Paolo Crepax immersed himself in Venice’s artistic scene. He reoriented his business toward an artistic focus and embarked on an experimental path in the field of decorative lighting, as well as the successful production of high-value works of art created using the filigree technique.

In 1984, Paolo Crepax began enhancing the quality of his creations by focusing on contemporary creativity.
In 1985, Paolo Crepax presented his works internationally and won his first award in Düsseldorf, followed by other awards in Barcelona, New York, and Paris.
Among these honors, the “Premio Murano 1985” deserves special mention; he won it for a 70-cm-diameter plate (“Homage to Miró”). The award jury was composed of prominent figures from the world of culture, as well as the masters Alfredo Barbini, Archimede Seguso, Ermanno Nason, and Livio Seguso.

In 1986, he won the “Premio Murano 1986” alongside painter Richard Shwaizer.

In 1989, Paul Crepax met Ottavio Missoni and Milo Schoon in Venice, for whom he created two innovative glass collections.

In 1990, Paul Crepax began working for renowned companies such as Leucos, Artemide, Vistosi, and OtyLight.
