French "faux Bamboo" Bronze Floor Lamp By Maison Baguès, 1960s
An extremely elegant bronze floor lamp featuring three “faux bamboo” legs.
The legs mimic bamboo with their ribbed texture and fine, elongated grooves.
They taper to form an elegant curve, with a bamboo stalk centered toward the lampshade.
The new bronze-colored silk lampshade, slightly conical in shape, measures 45 x 42 x 28 cm and is lined with white fabric.

MAISON BAGUÈS
Maison Baguès was founded in Auvergne around 1840 and has earned an international reputation as a creator of artistic lighting fixtures. In its early days, the company specialized in liturgical bronze; it then expanded rapidly in the late 19th century thanks to bronze lighting fixtures, which became popular with the widespread adoption of electricity.
During the 1920s, Victor and Robert Baguès expanded their father’s collection of bronze lighting fixtures and created their own iron designs: the Baguès collection consists of “Parrots & Foliage” chandeliers and wall sconces.
Some of the most famous artistic directors and interior designers of the era were on Baguès’s client list, including Jansen, Raymond Subes, and Armand Albert Rateau. In 1928, Rateau designed the interior of Jeanne Lanvin’s home.Between the two world wars, the company expanded internationally and opened permanent branches in New York, Rome, and Cairo. Its business also expanded to include the manufacture of stair railings and metal grilles, which can still be found in many locations throughout Paris, such as at the Porte d’Or and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
