Mid-century Italian-style Sideboard, Black High-gloss Finish—brass Accents, By Mario Sabo
Artist: Mario Sabot
Mid-century Italian-style sideboard, black finish—brass details, by Mario Sabot
This harmoniously proportioned piece captivates with its form, materials, and meticulous craftsmanship.
The solid brass hardware accentuates its contours.
That’s why we took the time to have this piece completely refinished—a massive undertaking. We had to take it all apart and then put it all back together.
The brass has been polished and now boasts a magnificent patina; the bentwood has been restored and shines once again, in perfect condition.
The 5 drawers (exposed wood) and the 2 side panels (matte black) have been coated with a matte satin lacquer to make it easier to store and retrieve items. We also lacquered the back, allowing the piece to be placed as a freestanding unit in a large room.
This piece has stood the test of time and remains as elegant as ever.
In the vintage and design market, Mario Sabot’s pieces represent both a cultural and aesthetic investment.
Mario Sabot – The Milanese manufacturer of sculptural design pieces
Founded in Milan in the 1960s, Mario Sabot is one of the most remarkable Italian manufacturers from the golden age of Italian design. Specializing in the production of chairs and other furniture, the company distinguished itself from the very beginning through its exceptional craftsmanship and an aesthetic sensibility focused on sculptural forms.
A collaboration with renowned designers
The name Mario Sabot is inextricably linked to that of Willy Rizzo, the famous Franco-Italian photographer and designer behind some of the most iconic chairs of the 1970s. This collaboration gave rise to furniture of extraordinary character, distinguished by its curved beechwood frames, bold geometric lines, and velvet upholstery that is both elegant and original.
