Pair Of Italian Ceramic Vases By Fratelli Fanciullacci

Artist: Fratelli Fanciullacci
Pair of Italian brown-orange-yellow-white ceramic vases from the mid-20th century, by Fratelli Fanciullacci, circa 1960.

The vases have an elegant conical shape. The exterior is entirely ribbed, and in the center, an abstract decoration, 8 cm in diameter, in shades of orange, yellow, white, black, green, and blue, encircles the vase. Below the neck is a delicate band of small 1 cm rectangles. The decoration is framed by deeper black lines, giving the whole a particularly flat appearance.
The ceramic is glazed and in perfect condition. The rim has a diameter of 6.5 cm, and the base diameter is 9 cm.

The Fanciullacci pottery was founded in 1862 on the small island of Capraia, north of Elba, between Corsica and Italy.
Around 1911, the factory was moved to Montelupo to facilitate the distribution of products by rail.
The 1914 catalog featured over 1,000 different models. Before joining Bitossi in 1935, Aldo Londi worked for Fanciullacci.
The company produced ceramics in many different styles and closely followed the trends and tastes of the time.
In 1966, the decision was made to expand and open an additional factory in Florence, which proved fatal, as demand for ceramics stagnated in Europe and the golden age was over. The artistic quality was lost, and all activity ceased in 1988.
Some other ceramists who worked for Fanciullacci include:
Vincenzo Ossani, Lorenzo and Giovacchino Canneri, Dino & Mario Scappini, Bruno Bagnoli, and Benvenuto Staderini.
