Pablo Picasso Ceramics
In 1946, during a stay in Vallauris, Pablo Picasso discovered the Madoura studio run by Georges and Suzanne Ramié. Invited to create a few terracotta pieces, he rediscovered the joy of modeling that he had first experienced at the turn of the century.
The following year, he returned to Vallauris and saw the results of his first creations after firing. It was a revelation. Captivated by the infinite possibilities of clay and fire, Picasso developed a passion for ceramics.
For nearly twenty years, he explored this medium with extraordinary freedom and inventiveness, producing more than 3,500 works that are now considered among the most unique creations of his career.
