Impressive Mahogany Extendable Table from the Louis XVI Period,

circa 1780

Impressive and Exquisite Mahogany Extendable Dining Table from the Louis XVI Period.

This dining table rests on six tapered legs ending in gilded bronze feet and casters. It extends via a remarkable wooden sliding mechanism that allows for the addition of six extension leaves in total; three are included, two of which are made of composite wood and one of mahogany.  When fully extended, this table reaches an exceptional length of 4.38 m, seating 16 to 18 guests. When closed, it retains harmonious proportions that make it an elegant dining or reception table. Its tabletop features a superb flamed mahogany veneer with a warm, deep patina and a buffed varnish finish.

High-quality furniture with understated and elegant lines. This table combines practicality with style; it can serve as a dining table or reception table, but to save space, it can also function as a console table when not in use. It also makes for a very attractive piece thanks to its lovely dimensions, the carefully selected wood, and its elegant lines. This prestigious piece captivates as much with its aesthetics as with its ingenious and functional original mechanism; it exemplifies the refinement of Louis XVI-era furniture and will enhance your home.

Louis XVI-era piece, circa 1780.
