A Fine Pair Of Armchairs With High Backs.
An exceptional pair of Rocaille-style armchairs with flat backs. Beech wood, molded and carved on all four sides. Decorated with long, sinuous stems winding around the armrests and curved legs. This very rare design, created in the 1730s, was executed here during the first half of the 19th century. Seats were originally gilded. (Traces of yellow pigment inside the crossbars and engraved backrests on the backs of the armchairs. Upholsterer needed to finish with a final layer of fabric. Woodwork in perfect condition.)
