This work is attributed to Francesco Zuccarelli (Pitigliano 1702 – Florence 1788);
In the landscapes painted by Zuccarelli, the world is frozen in time, suspended in a moment of idyllic tranquility, where the “Arcadian” essence of the landscape is rendered with that pictorial vitality, chromatic lightness, and compositional grace that we find in full in his painting.
For comparison, we can contrast this canvas with other compositions; here are a few examples:

A native of Tuscany, Francesco Zuccarelli trained first in Florence with the landscape painter Paolo Anesi and then in Rome with his fellow Tuscan Giovanni Maria Morandi. It was in Rome that he had the opportunity to study outstanding models, ranging from the 17th-century works of Gaspard Dughet to those of his contemporary Andrea Locatelli.
Around 1732, he settled in Venice, where he was influenced by local veduta painters such as Marco Ricci and Giuseppe Zais. In Venice, the painter continued his long career, distinguishing himself from local artists through the idyllic tone of his landscapes; during this phase of his career—which inspired our painting—he focused on works with Arcadian themes; as we can see in his works, the presence of figures always remained predominant—almost a legacy of his early training—where naturalistic backgrounds often serve as the backdrop for rather idealized scenes of rural life.
The painting is framed in a beautiful carved and gilded wooden frame.
The painting is in excellent condition and is sold complete with a certificate of authenticity in accordance with the law.
