Rare Pair Of 19th-century Inlaid Footstools
A lovely pair of 19th-century Sorrento marquetry stools. The backrest features a putto with a quiver, standing on a pedestal made of cornucopias, brandishing a tambourine beneath a sky of ribbons. The seat is inlaid with two intertwined geometric figures (a Masonic symbol?).
The base is inlaid with a heraldic emblem depicting a crowned lion. A small carved crossbar connects the front and rear legs. The entire piece is framed by carved moldings with a black finish.
